Dr. Aidan Grosas

Aidan received his PhD from The Australian National University under the supervision of Professor John Carver. He has used a myriad of biophysical techniques to characterise crystallin proteins to understand their contributions to eye lens transparency and cataract development. In 2022, Aidan joined the CCeMMP as an ICPD at the University of Wollongong node.

Research Interests

Aidan is involved in several projects which aim to determine novel structures of membrane proteins important in neurodegenerative disease and pain. These include ion channels and G-protein coupled receptors. Aidan is also interested in using cryo-EM to solve the structures of amyloid fibrils via helical reconstruction and small proteins via MicroED.
