MariaKatarina Lambourne

MariaKatarina (MK) is a CCeMMP PhD candidate in the Ooi and Tolun labs at the Wollongong node. She completed a Bachelor of Bionanotechnology with Honours at the University of Wollongong, where she used cryo-EM to study annealases (DNA recombination proteins) and their role in DNA repair.

Research Interests

MK’s research focuses on potassium ion channels that control neuronal excitability in health and disease. This involves the use of cryo-EM and other biochemical/biophysical approaches for structural and functional insights into the activation mechanism of these channels.
