ARC CCeMMP Research Symposium 2026

The Australian Research Council funded Centre, Centre for Cryo-electron Microscopy of Membrane Proteins (CCeMMP), is hosting a free in-person 2026 Research Symposium to showcase the exciting research and technological advances in the field of cryo-electron microscopy and membrane proteins and will feature two keynote presentations. CCeMMP invite the scientific community to attend and participate in the symposium on the 2nd and 3rd of December at The Bio21 in Melbourne, Australia.

This year, CCeMMP will have two keynote speakers, presenting their recent cutting edge research. We are excited to welcome Associate Professor Alisa Glukhova from the WEHI. Our second speaker will be confirmed shortly.

Registration to attend the symposium are now open! The Centre strongly encourages the scientific community to attend and participate. The symposium is free to attend, registration is essential.

Registrations are open from 9:00 AM on the 1st of September 2026 (AEST) and will close at 11:59 PM on 1st of October 2026 (AEST).

This year the prizes are:

• Thermo Fisher Poster Poster Prize – $400 AUD and a 3D printed protein model of your choice
• Thermo Fisher Poster Prize Runners-Up – $150 AUD and a 2D structure print of your choice
• Most Popular Oral Presentation Prize (voted by peers) – $200 AUD and 3D printed protein model of your choice
• Most Popular Oral Presentation Prize Runners-Up (voted by peers) – $50 and a 2D structure print of your choice

The abstract submissions for the ARC CCeMMP Research Symposium 2026 are now open!

We invite researchers and students to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations to share their research with the community.

Abstract submissions are open from 9:00 AM on the 1st of September 2026 (AEST) and will close at 11:59 PM on 1st of October 2026 (AEST).

Oral and Poster Presentation General Guidelines

• All authors submitting abstracts will be required to present a poster.
• Do not submit an abstract if you do not want to present a poster. If you are selected for an oral presentation, you do not need to present a poster.
• Further instructions and details around the dimensions of the poster will be updated after selection.
   

Oral presentation guidelines

• Abstracts will be reviewed by a selection panel and authors selected for an oral presentation will be notified no later than Friday 23rd of October 2026.
• Traditional oral presentations will be 20 minutes in length with 10 minutes of questions, and short-talk oral presentations will be 10 minutes in length with 5 minutes of questions.

Poster presentation guidelines

• Posters must be presented in portrait orientation and must not exceed A0 (841 cm x 1189 cm) size. Equipment to mount posters will be provided on arrival.
• Best poster will be awarded the Thermo Fisher Scientific Poster Prize, which includes a certificate of recognition, cash prize, and a 3D printed protein model of your choice. Please indicate in the Abstract Submission Form if you do not wish to be considered for the Poster Prize.
• To present a poster and/or be considered for an oral presentation, please complete the following Abstract Submission Form. All abstract submissions should be completed using the Abstract Submission Template and uploaded at the bottom of the form.
• Poster presentation abstract submission will close 11:59 PM AEST on the 1st of October 2026.

Abstract Guidelines (please read before submitting)
Please adhere to the following guidelines when submitting an abstract:

• The submitted abstract should be relevant to the field of research i.e. membrane proteins, cryo-EM work or cryo-EM of membrane proteins.
• Abstracts will be up to one A4 page in length, including any figures, photos or graphs.
• Page margins should be a minimum of 2.0 cm.
• A minimum font size of 12 point in Times New Roman.
• Abstract title should be in bold font.
• Authors should be listed and italicised.
• Address line should be included below the authors names with a space in between author names and address.
• All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English.
• Authors should indicate whether they would like to be considered for an oral presentation in the submission form. The selection panel reserves the right to decide which abstracts will be presented in oral form.
• Upon abstract submission, you will receive an email notifying you of your successful submission. If you have any issues with submission or need to make any corrections to an already submitted abstract (only accepted before the deadline), please email ccemmp@monash.edu.au.
